Description
The Fresh Food Intern (FFI) assists the Fresh Food Manager in the food service areas of the store. The FFI works in support of the Store Management Team to efficiently execute food service programs in compliance with corporate and regulatory guidelines, increase profitability, manage/coach associates as they work in the food service areas of the store and maintain a safe and sanitary food environment. The intern must be attending college and enrolled in a program that requires a credited internship and/or is a course requirement.
Principle Duties:
- Supports and follows all Wawa safety and security initiatives.
- Provides a pleasant shopping experience for all customers; responds to customer complaints or inquiries and solicits customer feedback and input as necessary.
- Supervises associates engaged in customer service, stocking, taking inventories, housekeeping and other tasks necessary to ensure that the organization's brand standards are met and exceeded on a consistent basis in the food service area.
- Orders and merchandises products according to specifications communicated by store management.
- During shift supervision, ensures compliance by all associates with established security, safety, sales, record keeping and other operations policies, procedures and practices.
- Communicates with the store management regarding customer requests and associate performance issues.
- Participates with the store management team in developing projects to improve store performance in areas of sales, spoilage, merchandising, marketing, associate retention and associate training, and makes appropriate recommendations to store manager regarding the same.
- Actively supports area and regional projects and initiatives.
- Ensures the proper execution of all store level marketing programs.
- Contacts Wawa Call Center personnel for asset management work orders, communicates with contractors and follows up on work completion during shift supervision.
- Supervises the performance of one to 10 associates when serving as shift supervisor.
Requirements:
- Currently attending College and enrolled in a program that requires a credited internship and/or is a course requirement.
